About the Artist
Originally from a tiny town in New Zealand, I now live and create in a slightly bigger town in the Interior of Alaska. When I was younger I got a little distracted and got a BFA in photography. But thankfully after moving to Alaska in 2004, I snuck in a metalsmithing class and found my true love. Fire, metal, rocks. Instantly head over heels with all things metalsmithing. My inspiration comes from the materials themselves. I am obsessed with the endless combinations that can be made with metal and stone: curvy, angled, modern, ancient, botanical, architectural. Each exploration into a design, leads to five new ideas. I hand fabricate jewelry in sterling silver and semi-precious stones and love that each piece goes on to be worn and loved, to have a life of its own, absorbing memories and sentiment, and bringing strength and confidence to the wearer. A big part of the process for me, is not just the making, but the wearing of the piece, and the longevity of the piece.
